Couldn't rate Abelia House more - Kate and David were wonderful hosts who made our stay (however short it was) very pleasant.

Close to town but not too close, quiet but busy enough with wildlife in the surrounding property, this place will suit someone looking for a relaxed atmosphere.

All that said, having muffins delivered fresh from the oven each morning was enough to win us over all on its own! Travelled as a couple.

A relaxed check in with the hosts being very quick to answer questions prior to arrival.. Hosts continued to provide wonderful service throughout my stay. I had a hire car for work, and used this to access the hill roads where this property is located, amongst a rural community. Lovely gardens and a couple of short field / forest walks close by. Breakfast was fresh and tasty. Thank you for the stay, had a wonderful night's sleep with no tv and no phone - bliss.

“Very relaxing weekend at Abelia House. We had the garden room which was stunning. Well decorated and super comfy bed. Loved our little private verandah where we sat out on to eat breakfast and look across the garden. We also really enjoyed the home cooked breakfast each morning - delicious!! Especially the orange and date muffins! Looking forward to coming back.”

David texted us when we were at Byron lighthouse to say the room was ready. He met us and gave us good information. The house is in an idyllic, quiet location surrounded by forest. The room was beautifully presented with design by his wife, Kate. Great bed.

The breakfast was perfect for us. Hot croissants were delivered unobtrusively to the room to compliment homemade yoghurt and muesli with a fruit platter and OJ in the fridge ready for the morning. We sat on the verandah with the birds and the tranquility and enjoyed it all.

We will try to get back soon.

“Abelia House is a stunningly conceived place with more style than you can poke a stick at. Located in dense bush where you can still hear the waves breaking in the quiet of the night, it shares common title space with other like-minded, environmentally committed residents. In short, simply beautiful.”

Abelia house was a breath of fresh air in regards to the gorgeous furnishings, lovely location and the very hospitable hosts who went out of their way to ensure our weekend away was all we wished for.To be so close to the beautiful beaches and cafe scene in byron and to be able to escape the madding crowds within a short drive is bliss....until we meet again ☺

This place is like heaven on earth surrounded by local vegetation and smart landscape design. It is create a hidden heaven away from the hustle and bustle in Byron but still not far from shops and restaurants. We came as a couple for two nights and enjoyed the super quality accommodation more then expected. The interior design is well invited you to stay in and just relax. Super comfort bed. Very specious shower room with French province style. The owners were so friendly and well tuned to their guests requests and comfort. Breakfast was included in the room offered home made heavenly yogurt, muesli and fresh baked selection every morning. We felt so spoilt. We only wished we could stay a little bit longer. We will get there again with no hesitation in our next visit in Byron!

“Where do I start? This slice of heaven that David and Kate created in the Byron Hinterland is my treasured get away spot for future Byron trips. The room was superb - from the comfy bed through to the beautiful decoration and the private terrace that I enjoyed so very much, this is a must visit bnb. I have to say, I've used Airbnb many times in the past, but this was my favorite experience. David and Kate are amazing hosts and very caring and thoughtful. The town of Byron is just a hop, skip and a jump with a car. I highly recommend staying here.”

The room was fantastic! The area was beautiful and peaceful. Kate welcomed us on arrival and showed us the room and pointed out the walks around the property and also gave us a rundown of the restaurants around Byron. We had a relaxing time there and would definitely stay there again when going to the Byron Bay area!

What a find! A beautiful country setting 10 min from Byron. The host David greeted us by name on arrival and showed us around, but from then on was very low-key and unobtrusive.

He said his wife was an interior designer and it showed - stunning rooms and gardens! The breakfast for the next morning was set out on a tray in the room and in the fridge. Muesli, stewed fruit, muffins, and yoghurt - all homemade! Yum scrum!

We enjoyed our Brekky at one of the outdoor tables on the huge sandstone verandah that wraps around the house, and each room has french doors accessing the verandah.

Would be great to return with some friends for a byron weekend!Stayed March 2015, travelled as a couple

We stayed in Abelia house when we went to visit Byron Bay. It was far enough away from the noise in Byron bay but not too far. Set in bushland setting. Very quiet. The room was immaculate impeccably decorated and maintained. The perfect romantic private experience. Breakfast was of a very high standard Linen and toiletries were luxurious and everything just perfect. Wonderful experience I would highly recommend this property and would stay again. Excellent

Kate and David are such a sweet couple with a beautifully designed house in the hinterlands above Byron Bay. We enjoyed the peacefulness and tranquility of their property, and rested wonderfully in their garden room. They had a great list of restaurants for us to peruse, and a delicious homemade breakfast all setup in the fridge and ready to go. And they even mustered up a power adaptor for us, thankfully as we came in from out of the country. We enjoyed our stay greatly!

Stayed for one night on our way to Brisbane. Called on spec to see if there was a room available and as they had no other guests we were given the choice of rooms. We chose the garden room, which is normally a more expensive room at no extra cost. The rooms are very tastefully decorated, spotlessly clean, very comfortable bed with luxurious linen. The bathroom was large, again beautifully decorated and supplied with high quality toiletries.
The breakfast was homemade and delicious, especially enjoyed eating it sitting outside on the veranda overlooking the garden. A real night of luxury in Byron Bay.

Our experience at Abelia House was amazing. It was so nice to wake up to the peace of birds chirpy and the trees blowing. The room was immaculately presented and our stay, very comfortable. It was a lovely way to spend a night away. The continental Breakfast was delicious also! I would highly recommend staying here with David and Kate for the perfect weekend or night away.

The breakfast was deliciouse and the location was so tranquil it's made our 2 day stay absolutely perfect! We traveled for 2 weeks up the coast and this was the most memorable place we stayed in! All this was just a short drive from the busy Byron Bay centre! Really accessible too! Perfect!

Abelia House is a beautiful b&b, decorated with some beautiful touches. Certainly one of the best b&bs I have stayed in. The breakfast is all homemade and left in your room for you to enjoy on the porch the next morning. We arrived quite late at night and Kate was more than accommodating, thanks Kate! Abelia House is roughly a 5/10 minute drive from the beach and is pretty remote so have good directions if arrivng at night! Definitely worth a visit for a relaxed weekend but you will need a car.
